about The Little Petunia
Stephanie (Hughes) Minnis founded The Little Petunia, based in San Francisco CA, in late 2015.
Our sourcing philosophy is simple: Stick with what is in season and look to local growers first to find the best product available. That means arrangements change every week. At some points of the year (ahem, December), that also means being especially creative. Evergreens, dried seed pods, and branches can take on a whole new life - sometimes as the focal point of a beautiful winter centerpiece.
We are based in San Francisco where we can be reached by email, phone, and in person by appointment.
After a 7 year career in Fashion Merchandising and while planning her own wedding, Stephanie discovered a farmer florist in Philadelphia designing only with flowers and plants she grew herself. The very concept of what this woman was doing shook Stephanie. So much so that she took a break from her Corporate gig to spend her days shadowing flower farmers and learning from seasonal florists all over the country.
And the name? Well, that comes from a song Stephanie's Grandma (a veggie farmer and flower gardener) likes to sing. It goes like this: "I'm a Lonely Little Petunia in an Onion Patch, Oh won't you come and Play with Me?...."
Stephanie spends her days Buying and Merchandise Planning for Apparel businesses and her mornings, nights, and weekends with flowers.
