The past month and half I have mostly kept my head down, working and trying to find new ways to be productive with my week. Sometimes I need to remind myself to come up for air.
You know when someone asks you on a Monday what you did over the weekend? And you can't remember? That's how I feel about the whole month of September! But there were so many good things to share.
Labor Day weekend Greg and I drove up to the Nevada side of Tahoe for Alethea's wedding. We camped in the high desert and danced under a star splattered sky. On Sunday, after breakfast at a greasy spoon decked in cowboy paraphernalia, instead of heading back towards the city we steered towards the lake and found the PRETTIEST beach I have ever been to. We had to hike down a windy, steep path to get to a little cove on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. The beach was spotted with beach blankets, but hardly crowded. The water was crystal clear blue and the sand shimmered with little nuggets of black charcoal. My phone was dead, of course, so no pictures to go by. But I won't forget it!
The weekend after we had visitors in from the East Coast and got to play tourist in the city for a few days. A bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and Micheladas in Sausalito on Saturday and then making flowers early Sunday for a sweet baby shower on the Bay.
The weekend after, Greg and I went on another mini adventure - this time much closer - to the Tourist Club in Muir Woods. If you've never been there before, it's a members only Austrian Chateau in the Redwoods that you have to hike a mile to get to. It's open to the public a few select days out of the year, and this was our second time going. Kinderfest, the day's event, involves live music, traditional Austrian partner dancing, lederhosen, beer and brats. It was HOT, but fun.
And like that we were already 2/3 through September and I was gearing up for two weddings, one for a particularly special couple on the East Coast. But I'll save that for next time. I'm planning on writing a bit more frequently this Fall because things have been picking up pace around here and it's fun to look back on all that happened. Hope your Fall is off to a great start as well! Drink some cider and jump in some leaves for me!
